I've spent most of my life inside math. Competition problems first, then machine learning research, where I've published papers and presented at conferences like ICML and CVPR. Somewhere along the way I noticed that the most useful idea probability ever produced, expected value, is also the one people learn worst. You can read the definition in thirty seconds and still walk onto a casino floor believing you're due.
Meanwhile, betting has never been easier to reach. Sportsbooks live on every phone, including the phones of people my age. The ads sell near misses and hot streaks. Nobody advertises the arithmetic underneath, because the arithmetic is the whole business, and the business only works if you never look at it too closely.
So I built the one perspective that makes the math impossible to ignore. Here, you sit on the casino's side of the table. You take a cut of every bet, you pay every jackpot, and you watch a month of randomness bend toward you anyway. My favorite way to explain the site is a dare: try to lose money. Set your edge to the minimum, run every promo, comp every drink. You'll still finish ahead. Once you've felt that from the inside, a betting ad never reads the same.
Outside this project, I do machine learning research at Northern Illinois University and work as a software engineering intern. Those taught me how to build. nthchance is what happened when I couldn't stop thinking about something long enough to leave it unbuilt. If it changes how one person reads a betting ad, it did its job.
